I love it when I
stumble on hoaxes
after they're proven to be fraudulent. It gives me
an entirely undeserved feeling of superiority, like I
figured the thing out on my own. Thank you Penny
Arcade for unnecessarily boosting my ego.
Still, I really hope
that some major news source picks up on this and
requests an interview or something.
For
real this time
December 28
After consulting
with the helpful man who inspired me to use mouse-overs,
I have learned how to format text in a less distracting
manner and still be able to point out asides. From
now on, you'll see a dotted line
below anything that needs further explanation.
I got to do
something that's quite uncommon I would imagine: off- road
in an SUV. The car is my uncle's, so I was spared
the guilt of actually owning such a vehicle. Afterwards
I ate at one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever
been to. It's name is "Full Ho", which brings the number of establishments
in Las Vegas whose name's contain the word
"Ho" to an epidemic level.
Mouse-over
December 27
Yeah, so
Christmas...
All items in yon Christmas
list were ¤received¤. In addition, I got a
signed copy of Tony Horwitz's Blue
Latitudes as well as a heat rate monitor/watch.
Everyone in my family received one of the latter in an
effort by my mother to get more of us out with her on
her multiple jogging excursions. I don't know how
successful she'll be. I also received another
present, but I want to keep it a secret to those at my
school who also read this site.
We actually had Christmas
dinner this evening where puddings from corn to
Yorkshire to bread were sampled, though Figgie Pudding
was not present as the season might suggest.
And just so it
doesn't get past anyone, I'm taking a page from this
fellow's book and using ¤mouse-over¤
asides.
Whenever you see words between two of this little do-dad
"¤" it means you can place your mouse over
the text in between them and read a little aside.
Hopefully this will cause the entries to not include any
distracting parenthetical asides and make the site a
little more succinct.
I've
been relatively good this year
December 24
For no other reason
than to increase posts, I present you with my Christmas
list so you can wait in anticipation along with me
for the next few hours. The list was already html
encoded to allow easier access to the products
themselves, so I just uploaded them here.
This is actually one
of my bigger lists. Last year my list consisted of
the single, nonexistent word "Pikmin," but the
forces that be insisted that too many cool things be
brought to my attention.
The
Library
December 23
Here in Las Vegas we
have a strip club called "The Library."
I mention this because there's a billboard that
advertises this establishment on the way to my dad's
work, and sometimes when going to my sister's. At first
I thought the name was simply a method to appeal to
someone's librarian fetish, but as it turns out, the
name is surprisingly apt. The place is an actual library. With books. Real books. Books that
you can check out. Eeirie.
And don't worry, I
only know this from reading a Weekly's "Best
Of" feature, not from actually going there.
And happy Festivus.
CBL
December 14
I just learned about
the existence of the Canadian
Baseball League this evening. This is generally a
positive development, as baseball and Canada are two
great tastes that (presumably) taste great
together. Baseball in general is actually a nice
thing to expand. There should be some sort of
statue that guarantees a town a minor league baseball
team once it reaches a certain size.
My interest in
Canadian sports was dampened some time ago when I
discovered that the Ottawa Rough Riders of the CFL
had folded, leaving the Saskatchewan Roughriders all by
their lonesome. A new Ottawa team did resurface
this year, but decided to name themselves the Renegades
instead. I mean, what's the point of having the
CFL if you're not going to have two teams named the
Rough Riders?
Go Outlaws!

I did end up seeing
the Peanut's Christmas special, which was complemented
by several new vignettes featuring the Peanuts
characters. They were not only good, but matched
the quality of the original (and were better in the
sound and animation department, since, you know, the original
was made in the early sixties.)
And Link, I know
you've pretty much got
your
wardrobe
in
order,
so can I borrow your old
shirt?
Ba-Ba-Ba-Bir-Bir-Bird
December 2
I downloaded a song
during the World Series and seemed to have forgotten to
listen to it until today. Still, bird continues to
be the word.
Decorated the tannenbaum
today, which basically meant we saturated the tree's
branches with ornaments. We sort of collect the
things. My personal favorite is the Walrus
from Alice in Wonderland. Fun stuff all around
really, though the lighting part took a while.
I've really got to
find out when The Peanuts Christmas Special comes on...
