Me
talking
This is where most of sites would
put their rants. But these aren't rants, nor are 50% of
the so called "rants" out there on the
internet. This is just me talking.
Amateur
Journalism
I've been a member of each of my high school's newspaper
staff in some capacity for all four years of secondary
school, currently serving as
Editor-in/on/around-Chief. In that time, I've
written a number of columns. These are their
stories.
Improving
English
An offhand comment in one of my journal entries spawned
this, which is just a bit of wishful thinking on my
part.
Flip
Flops
This really won't be of great interest to anyone that
doesn't go to my high school, but I'm nothing if not a
stickler for completeness.
Instant
Messaging
Sort of pointless when viewed in HTML form for people
who already know about all of IM's pitfalls, but what
the heck.
Opinions
Are like...well, you know
Music Preferences
Wherein I delve into the phenomenon of people giving up
on music bands because someone else likes them.
Cereal: The
Breakfast Food of Champions
You know you love it.
Our
Cartoons
Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
Soccer
Americans don't like it, and perhaps for a reason.
Movie Years
(2000)
One mustn't be a playa hata.
Slightly
Less Amateur Journalism
I work for the Las Vegas Review-Journal's R-Jeneration
staff, which basically consists of me doing what I
usually do when writing stories, but now it appears in
major metropolitan newspaper. And they're edited
by people who do that for a living, so these will
probably be a bit tighter and what-not. Also: I
didn't make up these headlines.
Why
Worry
This was meant to be part of my school newspaper, then
some kids died, so I had to move it here. That's
all really.
Journal Web site gives clues to what teens are thinking, talking about
This is almost the exact same article as appears below,
but this time professional editing rears its respectable
head and strikes.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Marching to Their Own Beat
This filled my feature story quota rather nicely, and conveniently
allowed me to take advantage of my membership at the Las
Vegas Fencing Club. Only now I'm jealous of the
Silverado kids who not only have an actual Japanese
program, but also a rather spiffy club to go along with
it.
R-JENERATION: Rvoice question of the week
One of those "Question/Quote/Mug shot"
thingies that newspapers seem to have these days.
Think of The Onion's What
Do You Think? section only with different people
each time, and the answers are sometimes serious.
Make sure to check out Stan's hypnotizing glare next to
the last quote.
Other
Stuff
I don't always require a pretence to write, so sometimes
stuff like this happens.
The
2004 NBA Draft Running Diary
An entirely original feature that no one has done before
On
Holidays and How to Make Them Work
Just in case someone complains, I am aware this title
was used before (by a Ms. Nikki Giovanni) I just like
the sound of it.
LiveJournal
Top 400 Interests
Target...too....easy....
Lists
They're fun.
Oh The Irony!
That pretty much sums it up.
Living
Moments
Where I go on and on about some thing.
